HJCL is an independent, full service political communications and policy consultancy, specialising in healthcare communications and campaigns, market access projects and public affairs. We undertake services on behalf of a diverse range of clients including the not-for-profit sector, commercial organisations, professional bodies and local government. HJCL is a member of the Association of Professional Political Consultants.
From the minimum wage, the NHS and hospital waiting lists, to the Euro and rail safety, law, policy and regulation impact on every aspect of commercial, social and economic life. In many commercial sectors, issues of public policy and the wider regulatory, legal, socio-economic and political environments within which they operate, have a major impact on the fundamental business drivers of WHAT products and services we sell, and HOW, TO WHOM and AT WHAT PRICE we offer them. In this complex and ever-changing environment, an ability to monitor, understand and influence the development of policy, legislation and case law - and to respond to those developments successfully - has become increasingly important.
By deploying public or government affairs tools and techniques as part of an integrated, targeted communications strategy, organisations can help influence, shape and maintain a broader political and legal environment that is conducive to ongoing commercial success.
Whether you want to maximise your involvement in a NICE Technology Appraisal, lobby a government department about a specific cause or issue, launch a healthcare campaign or simply develop your corporate profile with policy-makers and parliamentarians over the longer-term, we can design, develop and assist in the implementation of a comprehensive and integrated strategy and tactical action plan designed to deliver your organisational aims and objectives.
HJCL is currently working with a number
of commercial and voluntary sector clients on a range of healthcare
policy and political projects ranging from obesity, arthritis, cancer
and multiple sclerosis, to NHS reforms, the commissioning of
specialised healthcare services and access to medicines campaigns.
Current
voluntary sector clients include the National Obesity Forum (NOF), the
National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) and the World Cancer
Research Fund.
Over the last five years, HJCL has supported several pharmaceutical companies, professional groups and advocacy organisations (Lundbeck; Society for Endocrinology; Asthma UK) in more than 15 health technology appraisals conducted by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and/or the Scottish Medicines Consortium. The type of support has ranged from a full project management service (overseeing the entire health technology appraisal process from scoping all the way through to appeal) and the management of stakeholder communications, through to advocacy activity, parliamentary lobbying and even interactive training workshops for participating organisations.
We subscribe wholeheartedly to the view that it
is possible to be professional, work hard to deliver tangible and
demonstrable results and enjoy oneself at the same time. We do all
three. Straight-talking, results-oriented and passionate about what we
do, HJCL prides itself on providing the nimble, hands-on personal
service that you’d expect from a first-rate small consultancy.
